  • Celebrate the release of Skrik’s new album at AMH

    Saturday April 18th at AMH,

Skrik will be performing its first headlining set, for an album release show celebrating Songs for Coming Forth by Day.

Here’s the fun part: the album actually releases on Monday, 4/20, but this show will be your earliest chance to pick up a CD. Have it ready in time for the holiday 🌳πŸ”₯

I’m so excited to bring this new music to the stage. This is Skrik like you’ve never heard it before. Let’s all get Back to the Pit 🀘

  • New single “Absurd” out now

What better way to celebrate April Fools’ day than a song that celebrates the absurdity of life itself? You’d think the whole universe were a massive April Fools’ joke at this point.

Hear the rest of the album, Songs for Coming Forth by Day, on 4/20.

  • Skrik to release new album “Songs for Coming Forth by Day”

On April 20th, Skrik releases its fourth album, Songs for Coming Forth by Day.

After Halo, it seemed that everything was fine. Life was a matter of perspective. See the good more than the bad, and you will be okay.

It became clear that there was something missing. The toxic patterns, the pull towards the dark: they continued. There was still work to be done in the shadows.

This shadow work brought with it a new album. An exploration of what it means to be human at its core and how embracing that meaning opens up unfathomable multiverses of possibility. Total deconstruction in order to re-build from the ground up.

Thus, Songs for Coming Forth by Day was born.

On a musical level, the album transcends metal, incorporating more pop and rap elements than ever before. “Machina” barrages the listener with unpredictable passages of prog-death riffage, rap verses with booming 808s, Korn-like scatting, and soaring melodic atmospheric moments. “Memento Mori Love Song” is a quietly passionate pop song in its first verse and becomes blistering atmospheric extreme metal by the end. “Mana From Libido,” at a whopping thirteen minutes long, boasts a ukulele-centered chorus with crooning vocals, polyrhythmic breakdowns, psychedelic droning passages, and samples from Blue’s Clues and Wreck-It Ralph.

Now, when your boss rolls his eyes and sarcastically says “huh, I wonder why you requested off for 4/20 again this year?” you can confidently respond with “actually, I have an album to listen to” 🀘

    Tracklist:

    1. Machina

    2. Absurd

    3. Creatures of Habit

    4. The Scream

    5. Memento Mori Love Song

    6. Snakes

    7. Toad in the Mud

    8. Egohead

    9. Mana From Libido

  • New single “Memento Mori Love Song”

“Memento Mori Love Song” is an intense, melancholic ballad that calls for recognition of the impermanence of all; an acceptance that everything ends, even the most intense and lifechanging love.

As the first material to be released from Skrik’s yet-to-be-announced fourth album, it sees Skrik expand on the symphonic metal approach of Halo while reintroducing some of the more electronic and pop music elements of earlier albums while leaning deeper into these elements than ever before.

  • “Nothing’s Wrong” (Official Music Video)

From the album “Halo”, “Nothing’s Wrong” is a reverent, visceral celebration of the present moment. You cannot be anywhere other than where you are right now, be anyone other than who you are right now, do anything other than what you are doing right now, or feel or think anything other than what you are feeling or thinking right now. Any attempt to wish away the now is only feeding your own disillusionment and suffering.

See the music video, produced by Coffee Edge Media’s Jasmine Fuentes. Remember: nothing’s wrong. You are exactly where you are meant to be.
