On April 20th, Skrik releases its fourth album, Songs for Coming Forth by Day.

After Halo, it seemed that everything was fine. Life was a matter of perspective. See the good more than the bad, and you will be okay.
It became clear that there was something missing. The toxic patterns, the pull towards the dark: they continued. There was still work to be done in the shadows.
This shadow work brought with it a new album. An exploration of what it means to be human at its core and how embracing that meaning opens up unfathomable multiverses of possibility. Total deconstruction in order to re-build from the ground up.
Thus, Songs for Coming Forth by Day was born.
On a musical level, the album transcends metal, incorporating more pop and rap elements than ever before. “Machina” barrages the listener with unpredictable passages of prog-death riffage, rap verses with booming 808s, Korn-like scatting, and soaring melodic atmospheric moments. “Memento Mori Love Song” is a quietly passionate pop song in its first verse and becomes blistering atmospheric extreme metal by the end. “Mana From Libido,” at a whopping thirteen minutes long, boasts a ukulele-centered chorus with crooning vocals, polyrhythmic breakdowns, psychedelic droning passages, and samples from Blue’s Clues and Wreck-It Ralph.
Now, when your boss rolls his eyes and sarcastically says “huh, I wonder why you requested off for 4/20 again this year?” you can confidently respond with “actually, I have an album to listen to” ![]()
